Legalisation as of January 1st 2009
As of January 1st 2009 the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will restart their legalisation process. The following procedures are available;
- Via Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague (only for Dutch Nationals)
- Via our Honorary Consulate in Karachi
- Via courier (FedEx, UPS DHL or TCS) only after a confirmed e-mail has been received by the Embassy.
Via MFA - In The Hague a money transfer is needed before the documents can be legalised. The whole procedure will take 4

Via HC Karachi - Only Dutch passport holders who apply for a new passport which require legalised documents, can submit their
documents for legalisation.

How many documents (Original (Urdu) documents can only be legalised in combination with a translation)
For every single document, original(Urdu) and translation, a handling fee is required.
If you have an Urdu document and a translation you have 2 documents.
A confirmation mail with a payment instruction, reference number, questionnaire and the fees amount will be sent the next working day.
After payment you can send the following documents through a courier;
- The cash deposit receipt
- The documents for legalisation
- Complete questionnaire
- Copy passport/ID card of the person(s) concerned
- Address for returning the documents

List of acceptable documents for legalisation:
· Birth certificate
· Marriage certificate
· Death certificate
· Divorce certificate
· Unmarried certificate
· Deed of adoption
· Deed of acknowledgement of paternity
· Waiver of Nationality/ Renunciation certificate
· Proof of living certificate
· Notary statement for property
· Notary statement for business contracts
All the documents must be attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan before submitting for legalisation.
Only Pakistani documents can be legalised.
Requirements:
· A copy of passport, ID card of applicant/parents (in case of child), Original document for legalisation (bearing stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
Pakistan) + 2 copies.
· Original acceptance letter + 2 copies from the university (in case of student)
· The date of issuance of the extract should not be older then six months, otherwise you have to get a fresh extract from
the concerned authorities.
· Except for Marriage and divorce certificate.
· Most authorities who require legalised documents do have a maximum validity of 6 months. However original
documents cannot be legalised twice. If a new legalisation is requested you can apply at your union council for an extract or statement, and legalise
them, to confirm the original document.
· In case the applicant has lost the original Nikah Nama, a certified true copy from union council is acceptable for
legalisation.
· An unmarried certificate should be issued by Nazim and not a statement from parents.
· The fee for legalization is charged per document. If the original document is in Urdu, then is mandatory to have it
legalized, an English translation should also be legalized. Both will be charged separately.
· In case applicant insists on submitting a document which does not fulfil the requirements of the Embassy then he has to
make and sign a declaration for it.
· The translation of the Urdu document should be exactly the same and it is the responsibility of the applicant to check the
translation before submitting it for legalisation.
Fee is non-refundable and in case of re-legalisation applicant has to pay again.
