The online appointment system for Dutch passports, consular statements, legalizations, visa and MVV (provisional permit of stay) is not operational at the moment; no appointments can be made. Civic integration exams are not held at the moment at this Embassy. Visa for a visit to family and friends in the Netherlands, visa for business and official trips cannot be processed by the Embassy at the moment and will not be accepted at this moment.
In exceptional cases the Embassy can facilitate visa for business and official visits. For this purpose you are requested to contact the respective departments of the Embassy dealing with these matters, i.e.: Trade, Development Cooperation, Political and Military affairs. Schengen countries
As per 21.12.2008 the following countries agreed to Schengen:
Austria, Belgium, Czeck Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.

Mandatory Schengen Travel Insurance
In March 2004 the EU Council in Brussels decided to implement as from June 1st, 2004 a mandatory travel insurance as a precondition for visa issuing.
In principle this means that a visa applicant has to submit, together with his visa application for a short stay in the Schengen member states, proof of a valid personal or collective travel insurance covering:
- Expenses for repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical care and/or
- Urgent medical treatment in a hospital
- The minimum value of the mandatory travel policy is determined at Euro 30,000
- Insurance premiums for these policies are charged by the insurance company and not by the diplomatic or consular representation
- Further information can be obtained from the EU/schengen diplomatic or consular representation where the visa application is lodged.

Long Term Visa - MVV
Requirements for an authorisation for temporary stay (MVV) for family-reunion in the Netherlands.
After IND approval MVV applicants can submit their papers at the Fedex office. MVV applications are not possible at the Embassy till further notice.
As per 23 June 2008 FEDEX-offices in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Sialkot and Quetta can take in documents for mvv approved by the Immigration in the Netherlands. Please see below which documents are generally required to obtain a mvv from this embassy.
1. FAMILY REUNION PAKISTANI CITIZENS
- A Pakistani passport valid for more than 6 months.
- Completely filled out and signed visa application form + 2 photographs per applicant
- Original by MFA and Netherlands Embassy legalized marriage certificate + translation (in Dutch or English) or if not married original ‘Single’ statement legalized by MFA Pakistan and Netherlands Embassy Islamabad and/or proof of Dutch registration of marriage in the Netherlands
- Copy of Dutch document referent/host in NL (Dutch passport, permit of stay and/or Alien’s document
- For minor children original by MFA and Netherlands Embassy legalized birthcertificate + legalized translation
- For minor children copies of the Dutch document of the referent in NL + copy other parent (can be Dutch or Pakistani document)
2. FAMILY REUNION AFGHANI CITIZENS GEZINSHERENIGING AFGHAANSE PASPOORTHOUDERS (*below Dutch text / hieronder volgt Nederlandse tekst)
- An Afghan passport valid for more than 6 months.
- Completely filled out and signed visa application form + 2 photographs per applicant
- By MFA in the Hague (NL) legalized statement of the Afghani Embassy in the Hague re Afghani marriage certificate or if not married original ‘Single”statement supported by a statement of the Afghani Embassy in The Hague legalized by MFA in The Hague (NL)
and/or proof of Dutch registration of marriage in the Netherlands - Marriage certificate + translation (in Dutch or English)
- Copy of Dutch document referent/host in NL (Dutch passport, permit of stay and/or Alien’s document
- For minor children original by Netherlands MFA legalized statement of the Afghani Embassy re birthcertificate child(ren) + birth certificate + translation
- For minor children copies of the Dutch document of the referent in NL + copy other parent (can be Dutch or Afghani document)
If applicants cannot provide all these documents they should provide the letter of the Immigration Service in the Netherlands (IND) re the approval MVV in which is stated why they are exempted from submitting these documents.
2B. GEZINSHERENIGING AFGHAANSE PASPOORTHOUDERS

· Volledig ingevuld en getekend visumaanvraagformulier + 2 pasfoto’s per persoon
· Bij het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken in Den Haag gelegaliseerde verklaring van de Afghaanse ambassade inzake het huwelijk van betr + Afghaanse huwelijksakte + vertaling of een bij het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken in Den Haag gelegaliseerde verklaring inzake de ongehuwd staat van aanvrager + Afghaanse verklaring van ongehuwd zijn + vertaling en/of bewijs van inschrijving van het huwelijk bij de Nederlandse gemeente
· Minderjarige kinderen die vertrekken ikv gezinshereniging, een bij het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken gelegaliseerde verklaring van de Afghaanse ambassade in Den Haag inzake geboorte + Afghaanse geboorteakte + vertaling
· Minderjarige kinderen die vertrekken ikv gezinshereniging, kopieën van Nederlandse documenten van referent en Nederlands of buitenlands document van de andere ouder (Afghaans paspoort)
